School Registration Begins

Registration for all new students enrolling in government schools for the 2005/6 school year will begin on Monday, 25 April. Along with those who will be transferring to government schools, all children who will be aged five before 31 January 2006 must be registered. The anticipated completion date for registration is Thursday, 30 June, 2005.

Enrolment will take place at the school the child will attend. Parents may pick up registration forms at the primary school located in the area in which they reside or at the Education Department, 3rd Floor, Royal Bank Plaza.

When the form has been completed, it must be returned to the school with copies of the following documentation for each child:

  • birth certificate;
  • immunization card;
  • proof of residency category (i.e., birth certificate, status letter/certificate, RS 101 form);
  • last school year’s report (if the child is transferring from another school);
  • In the case of a transfer to John Gray High School or George Hicks High School, transcript from the last school attended.

The school principal will check that all submitted forms are correctly completed and have the required documentation, as well as determine whether the child lives in the right catchment area.

Medical examinations must be completed before a child is enrolled in school. The school will arrange appointments with the Public Health nurse or advise parents to organise an examination with a private doctor. Book rental fees must also be paid before a child’s enrolment is complete. An announcement regarding the payment of fees will be made at a later date. Only when parents receive a letter from the school principal can they be assured of placement in September.
