Hyatt RoundaboutThe National Roads Authority (NRA) is notifying the motoring public of traffic diversions at the new Hyatt Roundabout, starting Monday 18 April 2005. As of Monday, southbound traffic leaving West Bay Road at Galleria to use the Esterley Tibbetts Highway will be diverted around the new roundabout. This will allow the NRA to complete the roundabout circle and the southbound exit. Northbound traffic will not be affected. Later in the week, the normal morning closure will be extended through the day in order to allow the completion of the northbound carriageway. The northbound lane will be reopened each evening for West Bay traffic traveling home. Once all the new kerb works and islands are in place, the entire junction will receive a permanent surface of hot mix asphalt. Completion is expected by mid-May. The immediate purpose of the roundabout is to create a new entrance to the Hyatt Hotel. This is an essential first step before the highway is extended northwards. The roundabout also provides access to Limestone Investments to the east and in the short term, cleans up the connection between the landscaped section to the south and the tourist zone on West Bay Road. In future, this junction will provide the shortest and most convenient link between the Esterley Tibbetts Highway and the Seven Mile Beach hotels, condos, and shopping malls. During the construction period, the NRA requests that motorists drive carefully on the temporary surface and be aware of the danger of driving close to heavy equipment. Please drive slowly through the work zone. The NRA apologizes for any inconvenience to motorists during this month of construction activity.
