Caring Teens Lend Assistance

Pastor Alson Ebanks, with Mrs. Lorna Medina, views the donated items. The spirit of support and caring is being maintained between Grand Cayman and Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, USA, from which a donation of supplies was recently received.

South Carolina resident 15-year-old Alyssa Christian, daughter of the late Capt. Vince Christian, spearheaded the collection of several boxes of clothes, books, personal effects and first-aid items. She and her sister Brianne (aged 13) with other family members monitored Hurricane Ivan, and in its immediate aftermath enlisted the support of their church youth group to collect items.

Her uncle, Pastor Alson Ebanks of the Church of God, Walkers Road, recently received the boxes which, with the coordination of the girls’ grandmother, local resident Mrs. Lorna Medina, will be distributed to needy families by the Church of God. “We’re very proud of Alyssa and her youth group for their commitment to making a difference in people’s lives,” said the pastor.

The Christian sisters plan to make their first post-Ivan visit in coming weeks to see their family in Grand Cayman.
