“It Feels Good to Help Others” – Local Contractor does his Bit

It was thus only natural that he again stepped up to the plate when help was urgently needed after the hurricane wreaked havoc on so many roofs.

Mr. Ogilvie, a building contractor working for Budget Home Construction, has already repaired five homes as part of the Cayman Islands Recovery Operation (CIRO)’s community roofing project, demonstrating the type of commitment that last year earned him a Lion’s Club community service award.

“It feels good to help others, and I will continue with this project as long as the need for roof repairs exists,” he said.

CIRO’s community roofing project relies on local construction companies to repair houses at reduced fees for those who have received allotments from the Government’s Cayman Islands Development Bank administered Housing Recovery Grant (HRG). Some companies have even agreed to work at cost to enable the HRG to repair more roofs with less. The response from local companies has been good, with several building firms already committed to helping CIRO with the project, said CIRO representative Samuel Rose.

“The local contractors involved in the project deliver high quality work. All repairs undergo strict inspection, leaving residents feeling confident about their new roofs,” he said.
