CIDB Forges Ahead on the Recovery Track
The Cayman Islands Development Bank (CIDB) has continued processing the 725-plus applications received under the Government’s Housing Recovery Grant (HRG) programme. Thus far, CIDB has approved 352 applications, distributing over $1.9 million in recovery aid.
Recipient Patty Glidden received extensive damage to her home, one of the oldest in West Bay. As an asthmatic, the mould growth in her home posed a serious threat to her health but the funds she received from the HRG helped to restore the damaged bedrooms and bathrooms in her home, and to remove sections that harboured mould.
“Most of the damage to my home came from the attic windows,” she says. “The wind drove the rain in through the window on one side of the house but then as the storm shifted, the rain came in through the other. The bathrooms, livingroom and bedrooms were severely damaged by all the water. I am very thankful and grateful that the HRG was available to assist me. I have worked out of my home as a tutor for over ten years and am so appreciative that the HRG was able to repair my home.”
