Youth Commission Advocates for the Young

The National Youth Commission Cayman Islands (NYCCI) has revived its objectives, is completing its website, and is continuing with its mission of advocating for, and promoting, Cayman’s young people.

The 2004 theme of literacy also continues as a key concern for the commission, which is headed by Ms Jenny Manderson, MBE JP. The literacy project is supported by a grant from the Dart Foundation.

Other current concerns of NYCCI members, which represent a cross section of government and civic agencies, are the continuing incidents of youth road fatalities as well as the welfare of the family structure in the country’s post-Ivan recovery and restoration activities.

The NYCCI actively supports ongoing national initiatives such as the National Parenting Programme, and intends to support the annual Child Month Observance in May, when NYCCI involvement will include the formal launch of its website; the encouragement of weekly family evenings throughout the month (and thereafter); and a social evening for youth workers.

For more information please contact the NYCCI office on weekday mornings at 946-6151 or email youthcommission@candw.ky.
