More Homes on the Way

Site preparations are underway at the Dr. Hortor Memorial grounds on Fairbanks Road for the accommodation of up to 27 trailers for persons in dire need of housing.

Seven trailers are now in place at the Ed Bush Sports Field in West Bay and three are at the Bodden Town community site (off Cumber Ave), with plans to install a further four. Trailers are also allocated to private sites, with one already in place in Bodden Town. Three more are expected to be delivered to private sites this week, one each to Bodden Town, East End and George Town.

An additional 12 trailers were due to arrive this week (Thursday, 17 February) while another 44 are on order. Various shipping options are being explored for this latest batch, with estimated time of arrival of four to five weeks.

So far, the Temporary Housing Committee has received some 159 applications, requesting housing for almost 500 people.
