UNDP on Disaster Mitigation

Aimed at increasing capacity of the Cayman Islands Government to reduce vulnerability to hurricanes or other natural disasters, a draft report by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has now been reviewed by Government's chief officers.

The draft report was prepared by Dr. David Smith, UNDP Jamaica. The report was last week circulated among permanent secretaries and chief officers, asking comments or advice. Permanent secretaries and chief officers were asked as well to solicit input from relevant heads of departments.

Input garnered has been forwarded to Dr. Smith for finalization of the report prior to its presentation to Cabinet.
