Debris Works Hasten

Prospect & Bodden Town Next

Collection of hurricane-related debris will begin in the Prospect area early next week, followed by Cumber Ave and Belford Estates in Bodden Town.

Removal on Shamrock Road near Spotts was scheduled to begin Wednesday 20 October, while Randyke Gardens should be completed by the end of this week, Friday 22 October.

Initial debris collection has already been completed in a number of other George Town priority areas, including Walters Road, Windsor Park, Washington Blvd and Rock Hole. Work has also been ongoing in the Fairbanks Road area.

Meanwhile, district crews have been working in West Bay, Bodden Town and East End to cut and sort debris for removal. Efforts are continuing to organise debris collection in other high priority areas. Initial target areas for collection included high-risk areas with heavily populated communities and large amounts of debris, as well as locations that may be prone to flooding.

In preparation for roadside pick up, members of the public can help the debris collection drive by separating hurricane-related waste into four categories: vegetation (i.e., trees and bushes), (2) construction waste (sheet rock, wood, cement, rubble), (3) roofing metals and vehicles, and (4) appliances.

People who can move their own appropriately sorted materials to the designated temporary storage areas in their districts are encouraged to do so.
