A Message from the LoGBOur first post-Ivan cruise ships are to return on 1 November, with a total of ten expected over the course of the week. This is extremely momentous, and I credit the dedication of many hardworking people within the private and public sectors for this achievement. Now I challenge everyone to contribute to the renewal of Grand Cayman’s Tourism Sector, its economic viability and its potential for future growth. Of prime importance, everyone can assist in re-establishing the quality of our tourism product and services. One of the strategic aims of the National Tourism Management Policy (NTMP), in product terms, is to concentrate on improving the quality of the encounter for stay-over and cruise passengers, and so to deliver the unique Caymanian experience for which people are willing to pay a premium. This NTMP policy is termed Focus for the Future — and for us in the Cayman Islands, the future begins now. Remember that one of our biggest assets has always been the Caymanian people, our friendliness and helpfulness. On 1 November, when the cruise ships return, Focus on the Future, wear a smile and say to our visitors: “Thank you! Welcome back and come see us again.”
