Successful Business Forum

A solid turnout for the Small Business Recovery Forum on Wednesday 3 November sparked lively discussions on several issues important to small businesses in the Cayman Islands.

With over 120 people in attendance at the Westin Casuarina Resort venue, topics of discussion ranged from the availability of financial assistance to the formation of a small business association.

The Leader of Government Business, the Hon. McKeeva Bush gave the keynote address. Highlights touched upon the recent approval of a CI$10 million bond issue, with CI$3 million earmarked for small businesses. Mr. Bush also mentioned a number of new duty concessions available to businesses, as well as prospects for economic recovery beginning in January or February 2005 due to increases in imports and the availability of insurance payouts.
