CIRO News

  • All shelterees have been moved out of schools and are now at the East End Civic Centre. The Pines residents and staff moved into Sammy’s Airport Inn 3 November.
  • The first Disaster Assistance Centre is scheduled to open on Wednesday, 10 November.
  • Donations of building materials to the Department of Children and Family Services go twards fixing clients’ homes. The DCFS has a crew of volunteers from service clubs who are taking care of the urgent repairs of the elderly, disabled, and homes with small children.
  • All Government departments now have office space.
  • The Human Concerns subgroup reported that some residents who thought they could stay in their damaged homes are learning that their buildings have serious structural damage and are unsafe to live in.
