Ivan Ribbons Raise Money

Hurricane Ivan ribbon goes to His Excellency the Governor Mr Bruce Dinwiddy The sale of Hurricane Ivan Ribbons started with a bang this week with a S$10,000 donation.

President of Kensington Management Group, Mike Gibbs, made the presentation on behalf of Community Assurance Company (CAC), the Cayman-based captive insurance company of WellStar Health System. WellStar’s director, Mr Sam Bishop, is a regular visitor to Cayman and donated the money after seeing the damage caused by the hurricane. “He was extremely moved by the devastation and wanted to offer his support,” said Mr Gibbs.

His Excellency the Governor, Mr Bruce Dinwiddy, CMG, launched the campaign by cutting a ribbon at the George Town Cruise Ship Terminal. After buying the first one, Mr Dinwiddy encouraged cruise ship visitors to give generously when buying theirs. All proceeds from ribbon sales will go towards the Cayman Islands National Recovery Fund (CINRF).

The selling of ribbons to cruise ship visitors will continue each morning while stocks last. Any volunteers who would like to assist with their sale may contact Melenie Mylrea at 244-2425.

The ribbons will also be on sale at local businesses, retail outlets, banks and the Government Administration Building.
